The ISCO International Shiatsu Congress Online was a success

At the Shiatsu Centre in Norwich we are slowly returning to normal after the ISCO 2012. The Shiatsu Centre staff, especially Connie Vaughan and Shakura Meddings support the ShiatsuSpace.net. This unique project was the first and is now the largest online Shiatsu community.

The ISCO was a chance for international presenters to reach a global audience – there were participants from every continent. There were over 1,000 registrations for the live events delivered by Live Webinars. The ISCO area of ShiatsuSpace.net is still developing with online forums and videos of the events being loaded now. Broadcasting 10 live events over one week was a challenge and has left us all rather exhausted – but the overwhelming support and thanks we have received from all over the world via facebook, twitter and email – has made it all worthwhile.

The World’s First International Shiatsu Congress Online May 2nd – 12th 2012

I am really looking forward to the upcoming International Shiatsu Congress Online (ISCO). at www.shiatsuspace.net. It is so enjoyable, and such a privilege, to be networking with the presenters, Diego Sanchez, Brigitte Ladwig, Gabriella Poli, Suzanne Yates, Imma Bonet, Nicola Ley, Dinah John and Patrizia Stefanini – they are all experts in their field and it is so supportive of them to agree to present in this totally new project. We have had one presenters meeting online so far and this Saturday we are all meeting up again for a second rehearsal to show each other a summary of our presentations.

It has been a real learning curve for all of us, many of the presenters have never worked online before and are working with PowerPoint for the first time – so there is a real feeling of excitement, not to say a certain nervousness, at the idea of working together in this way.

Shakura and Connie – the two part-time staff at ShiatsuSpace have seen their workload increase by the day as participants are starting to gather at www.shiatsuspace.net and Register for the events. The main delivery is by Webinar – and the Webinars are already on average 40% full and more participants are joining every day. It looks like all the Events will be full – and we have been receiving emails, tweets, and facebook posts from all over the world supporting the project – which makes it all so worthwhile. We are setting up spaces for the Music Project

We are in the process of setting up a creative space, an office area and re-fitting the studio in Norwich for the current music project. We are planning to experiment with using DJ techniques to create a dynamic sound-stage for performing the recorded tracks soon to be released on EP. So far we have installed a midi keyboard/ Ableton Live controller and a VDJ controller in the studio and we are waiting on a new macbook pro to complete the set up.

TCM, Clean Language and Energy Work in Rome

I have just spent an interesting weekend teaching for the ESI branch in Rome. On Saturday and Sunday we explored an experiential and energy-based approach to TCM, a similar approach to the one we developed on our online course at www.newenergywork.com and today we spent the day integrating Clean Language Techniques with advanced Shiatsu techniques.. we ended up linking the “Outcome Question” in Clean Language with the Kyo-Jitsu Reaction – experienced in the whole field .. this is what I have been working on in the last two years since my collaboration online – exploring Clean Language – with Nick Pole at www.newenergywork.com. its a fascinating synthesis.

I am moving to Norwich this December

I will be moving back to Norwich early this December. It is lovely here in Brighton but the increasing amount of e-learning work that we are doing from the Shiatsu Centre – in Norwich means I need to be commuting regularly from Brighton – which is a four hour commute. I am looking forward to being five minutes by bicycle from the Shiatsu Centre. It will definitely improve my work/life balance.

We are moving to Brighton in July

The move is now official. We have spent the last week in Brighton, and we have found somewhere to live in Brunswick Square, subject to contract. We will be moving in late July. I am planning some CPD days please see the flyer at newenergywork.com for dates and more details.
